My Teaching Philosophy
I am a lifelong musician, starting my early education singing and playing piano, becoming a guitar-obsessed teenager, and eventually earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Classical Guitar Performance from New England Conservatory. On top of a robust performance career, I’ve run a successful in-demand studio for more than 15 years.
Out of all my career highs, I’m most proud of the positive impact I’ve had on the hundreds of students and families I’ve taught over the years. I view my time with a student as a privilege and great responsibility. Music lessons are an opportunity to provide a safe place for someone to feel confidence, support, responsibility, failure, success, empathy, joy, community; how to listen, work through frustration, seize curiosity, respect the intangible, appreciate consonance (and dissonance!), be self-reliant, and most importantly how to build something meaningful with nothing more than your imagination and hard work. I truly believe music lessons make our world a better place.
I’ve had students get into top university music programs and even become pros. My #1 goal though is to help you get to where you want to go. Everybody’s journey is unique and I’ll happily do whatever it takes to help you move further along your path.
I love teaching all styles, all ages, and all levels. In person or online.
